Once upon a time, there was a rabbit who was very proud of how fast he could run. He always made fun of the slow tortoise.
One day, the tortoise said, “Let’s have a race.”
The rabbit laughed, “You? Race with me? I’m so fast!”
The tortoise smiled and said, “Let’s try and see.”
So, they both started the race. The rabbit ran very fast and quickly went far ahead. He looked back and saw the tortoise was very far behind.
The rabbit thought, “He is so slow, I’ll take a nap under this tree.”
While the rabbit slept, the tortoise kept walking slowly and steadily. He never stopped.
After a long time, the rabbit woke up and ran quickly to the finish line. But to his surprise, the tortoise was already there!
The tortoise smiled and said, “Slow and steady wins the race.”
*Moral:* Never be proud. Consistency and patience lead to success.
